It will provide an introduction to the principles of TBRI (Trust-based Relational Intervention). You will learn about the Empowering, Connecting and Correcting principles. The class is based on the research and methods developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and her colleague Dr. David Cross, the founders of the Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. Dr. Purvis has coined the phrase “children from hard places” to describe children who have experienced difficulties in early development. The class will use problem-solving scenarios to provide practical skills to caregivers so they can build a stronger caregiver-child connection, which leads to better behavior.
